Hair

UPDATE COMING SOON...!!

My hair, where I started out [July 2007] to where I am now, almost 4 years later.
I'm happy to have made it this far and can't wait for what the future hold!

I've FINALLY gotten a routine down and I'm loving it.
It's pretty low maintenance, but mostly because my hair is covered by wigs most of the time [will explain in a blog post].

My regimen has taken me all of those 4 years, countless hours watching youtube videos and reading blogs to find, mold and tweak to my liking. Its likely to change, but only a little depending on hair styles and products I use. The more I learn the more eager I am to try things out.

But here goes...
Weekly Regimen
*I'll try and post pictures of each step next wash day*

I wash once a week, usaually on a Saturday or Sunday.
I apply a deep conditioning mix into my water dampened hair [no particular measurements]
*both of these conditioners I'm only using till the bottles are empty...the trials of a product junkie*
  • VO5 Passion Fruit Smoothie conditioner
  • Balsam and Protien conditioner
  • Olive oil or Africa's Best Herbal oil
  • Aloe Vera juice
I separate my hair into four sections with hair clips and leave the the mix on my head for no less than 2 hours. I divide each section into two [for a total of 8 sections] and detangle with a wide tooth comb followed by my modified Denman brush. I twist the sections and I'm ready to shampoo and condition.

  • Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deep Moisturizing Shampoo & conditioner.
I do all of this with the hair STILL IN TWISTS to prevent tangling.
I rinse out the conditioner [deep conditioning mix] and then apply the shampoo to my roots and message into my scalp and rinse out with cool water letting the lather run down my hair shaft.
I follow up with the conditioner, which I apply to each section of my hair, scalp and root. Rinse out with cool water.

Once out of the shower I dry my hair [plopping method] with an old t-shirt, then I add my leave in conditioner and sealant
From this point it would be "style as usual" but since I'm in a "hide your hair challenge" I leave in the twists and let air dry.

During the week I spritz my hair with a water, conditioner and Aloe Vera [or Greg Juice] mix and seal with an oil.

Hope that helps
