Make Over: MySpace

Before the days of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and the like there was MySpace. I'm sure we've all had an account whether we remember our log-in info or not. Well turns out MySpace is getting a facelift.
I don't know about you but it looks AWESOME compared to all the recent and never-ending changes Facebook makes. The number of advertisements alone are enough to make "deactivate" my account.

The relaunch is based on a place for musicians to connect with their fans...we'll see how long that lasts (i.e. Facebook and college students -__-).

Forbes reports that the new MySpace “is not a social network per se but a socially-powered venue wherein music fans can experience artists through every facet of their output — music, videos, photos, profiles, social feeds, live events and ticket sales.” Chris Vanderhook goes onto say, “MySpace is the only site in the world where you can get everything an artist does if you’re interested in that artist…To do all those things would probably take you 30 different properties.”

Check out some articles below.

Hate is a Strong Word [4]

1. changes on FB
2. "Jack in the boxes"
3. apartment shopping

I don't know if you've noticed but it seems that every other day there's a new feature or change on Facebook. They like to sneak them in thinking we won't notice, BUT WE DO!!! I am NOT amused. I want things back to they way there were. It was just last week that I realized my "status updates" weren't even real statuses anymore. They were just comments that happen to be directed at everyone and seen on peoples timeline. KIND OF LIKE TWITTER. I already have a Twitter account, I don't need another one.
Don't get me wrong there are some changes that I like [the ones with uploading pictures and the larger albums]. But the positives are few and far between. There isn't anything I can do about it, but I just thought I'd get it off my chest.

JACK IN THE BOXES... no I'm not referencing the toys or the fast food chain [that's the name right]. A "jack in the box" is a euphamism I came up with to describe someone who JACKS your swag, ideas, life, men etc etc and trys to portray them as their own. And while doing so they hide behind a fasade, either through "friendship", great distances, different cirlces of friends etc.
They're like copy cats, but scarier. Definitely add a touch of stalker to it, like the whole fan vs stan [stalker fan] thing.
Yes I know "imitation is the best form of flattery" but REALLY! Compliments, patronage, money, those are forms of flatter I can live with. Imitation is just creepy. Obviously originality, especially in our day an again is hard to come by. And I'm in no way implying that I or anyone else is the end-all-be-all of all things. But when for example I say or do something and not even an hour later the same thing [if I'm lucky slightly changed] comes up from these "Jacks" it just puts me on edge.

UGH! This is probably one of the few times I won't enjoy "shopping". I don't know maybe it's the area I'm looking in, the time frame, the price range. Whatever the reason I have NOT been enjoying this particular search. Stressed, so much going on in my life and add on to it that I need to find housing for the fall. SMH, it's not even something I can put off for too long or just not do. The only upside to this is that I'll have my own place [preferably a two bedroom so I can have a studio for my art and sewing stuff] that I can decorate however I like.

Whelp glad to have that out of the way....

Top 5 AHOLICs [3]

Internet Edition

5) Skype
4) Blogger
3) Youtube [F3MB0T's channel]
2) Facebook
1) Twitter [F3MB0T's profile]

These are pretty self explanatory. If you have an account or have just been on the sites you'll know, ESPECIALLY while in the depths of boredom.

Skype is like MSN Messenger or AOL messenger but with video call. or just phone calling. You can make phone calls to land lines or cell phone (at an extra cost) but all in all it's a GREAT way to stay in touch with loved ones across the country and the world.

I've known about Twitter for a LONG time, but my father being the person that he is (a computer nut) BLOCKED the site. So I couldn't get on the website at all :(. BUT while we were down in Hawaii it worked and I checked it out, and then when we got back home to the mailland I noticed that I had access to the website. I was ECSTATIC!! So I created an account. At first I wasn't that into it (as my Facebook status eventually proclaimed) and I almost deleted it. HOWEVER I stuck around for a little bit long and got HOOKED. The best part of Twitter (compared to Facebook)...I CAN UPDATE VIA MY CELL PHONE...YES [air pump]. [This was pre-smartphone]
Anyway I'm getting the hang of the tweets, tweeting and all the new lingo (# and @'s) but there is one I don't understand yet (RT) but give me time. I LOVE it.
Follow me and I'll Follow you. I'm looking for REAL people on Twitter, celebs are ok, BUT I'd prefer regular people to spammers and stars.

What Internet addictions are you enjoying? There's plenty to choose from, so take a dive.

P.S. Hawaii was FABULOUS! It definitely gets the AHOLIC stamp of ADDICTION!

a budding OBSESSION

OK so I've been journaling all my life. Kept a diary for FOREVER, even did a shared diary with a friend early in high school (I'm not sure why we stopped, but it was probably for the best).

But anyway, in 2004 I started an online journal/diary on Opendiary.com. I ended up losing the password and created a new account (unfortunate I know). I'm not sure what's going on with them right now, but I missed it. Soon after I joined Livejournal.com but i didn't keep up with it after the lose of my previous online diaries. After awhile, I think when the online journaling caught on, MSN created one, and of course I joined it, and a few other sites subsequently.

So essentially I'm not a newbie when it comes to online journaling/blogging.

I am an AVID Facebook ADDICT and have yet to join Twitter (it's inevitable that I will) also I started a "semi" (for lack of a better word) Vblog on YouTube (another ADDICTION). However things have come to a halt since my camera is out of commission for now :(.

I've been meaning to set up a sister blog with my Vblog (link above) on YouTube for a while and with the onset of pure boredom this summer NOW has become the perfect time for such an endeavor.

I love LOVE LOVE sharing my life/thoughts/emotions, whether through images or words (I make no claims at being a wordsmith, a photog, or director/actor...merely an AHOLIC).

I look forward to blogging....
